An automatic transfer switch (ATS) is different to a generator controller as it only monitors the mains and generator power but does not start the engine. The unit normally sits in a monitor panel and and has connections to the generator controller. When the mains power fails the ATS gives a command to the generator controller to start the generator set. Once the generator set is up and running the ATS then switches over the power from mains to the generator. The ATS will then check the mains to see when the power returns, once the power returns the ATS will switch over the mains and then tell the generator to stop.

View items...Manual Start / Auto Start
A manual start unit is the simplest form of electronic generator controller and is one step above "pull start" generator. This device is almost identical to the controls in your car. The device usually has a key and button to start the generator. If your mains power fails and you need to use generator power, you have to turn the key, to start the generator manually.
An automatic start module has all the same features as a manual start, the unit can also be set start automatically when the mains power or some other input is given to the module

An automatic mains failure ( AMF ) module is a combination of an automatic start module with an automatic transfer switch. The module will monitor the mains and generator power like an ATS but added to this is the ability for the module to control the generator as well.
The module works like an auto start module in operation. the difference being it can create its own start input from conditions it can monitor. The AMF module is normally used when backup power system is required for a site
View items...Load Share / Synchronising
A synchronising and load share unit is the ultimate generator controller, they come in many forms including allowing up to 16 generators to be combined together and even providing power to the national grid electricity system.
The synchronising and load sharing module can also be used in conjuction with a 'mains controller' to monitork the mains and act as an ATS for all the generator sets.

Auto Transfer Switch & Mains (Utility) Control Module
The DSE7560 is an Automatic Transfer Switch and Mains Control Module, designed to automatically synchronise multiple DSE7510s with single or multiple mains (utility) supplies. The module instructs the DSE7510s to make precise changes to the generating set outputs. This makes the module suitable for many applications including peak lopping, peak shaving and no break return.
The module has the ability to monitor the mains (utility) supply and start and stop the generating sets (being controlled by a DSE7510) upon removal or detection of the mains (utility) supply. The modules operational status is indicated on the LCD display and the front panel LEDs.
DSE 8610
Auto Start Multi-Set Controller
The DSE8610 is an easy to use multi-generator loadshare system, designed to synchronise up to 32 generators including electronic and non-electronic engines.
The DSE8610 monitors the engine and indicates operational status and fault conditions, automatically starting or
stopping the engine on load demand or fault condition.
Failures are annunciated on the LCD screen (multiple language options available), illuminated LED and audible sounder.
The event log will record 250 events to facilitate easy maintenance. An extensive number of fixed and flexible monitoring, metering and protection features are included as well as sophisticated communication and system expansion options.
Using the DSE PC Configuration Suite Software allows easy alteration of the operational sequences, timers and alarms.
With all communication ports able to be active at the same time, the DSE8610 is ideal for a wide variety of demanding load share applications.
DSE 8660

The DSE8660 is an easy-to-use single or multi-mains controller with automatic transfer switch capability. Designed to synchronise single or multiple DSE8610s with single or multiple mains(utility) supplies, the DSE8660 will automatically control the change over from mains (utility) to generators in synchronisation with the mains (utility) to provide no-break, peak lopping and peak shaving power solutions.
The module can indicate operational status and fault conditions on the LCD screen (multiple languages available), by lit LED, audible sounder and SMS messaging. Sophisticated communications are also available via RS485 and RS232 for remote PC control and monitoring and intigration into building management systems. The comprehensive event log will record up to 250 events to facilitate easy maintenance.
An extensive number of fixed and flexible monitoring and protection features are included. Easy alteration of the timers, sequences and alarms can be made using the DSE PC Configuration Suite Software. Selected programming is also available via the module's front panel making the DSE8660 ideal for a wide variety of load share applications.
DSE 8680
Bus-tie Controller
The DSE8680 module is designed to control a bus-tie breaker, manage the synchronising and check-sync across the breaker and automatically control the DSE MSC (multi-set communications) link when opening or closing the bus-tie breaker. The DSE8680 module has been designed to work with DSE8610 and DSE8710 Load Share control modules which support up to 32 generators.
DSE 8003
7" Colour Multi-Set Remote Display
The DSE8003 7" Colour Multi-Set Display module is designed for use with the DSE87xx rear mounted load share controllers. One controller can be connected to 32 generators on the same site.
